SurfSidekick is identified as an adware program. It may function on your computer as a browser helper object in Internet Explorer. This type of program, as with any adware program, may display web advertisements as you surf the internet, and may also slow you down as you visit your favorite web sites. SurfSidekick advertises that it "guides relevant web sites to you at the precise moment you are actually interested in them" but in fact the program may redirect you to internet sites that you may have no interest in.

SurfSidekick has an un-installer function for manual removal, but there have been reports that the program is not completely uninstalled. People are claiming that when you open up your internet browser after the automated install, the program reappears.
